She scratches a letter......

Narrator (Conrad) and Sally.
I think that they are dominated by ego in the beginning of the book because when the cat comes they just follow him around and don't try to stop him when he is messing up their house and wrecking everything. The kids just watch in aw as the cat runs around. And they choose to listen to the cat instead of the fish. In the end of the book they become dominated by superego because they start to listen to the fish and make him clean up and leave the house before their mother gets home.

The Cat.
The Cat starts out as dominated by id because he just walks into the kids house and makes all kinds of mess all over the place. Like when he brought in Thing 1 and Thing 2 who just ran wild or when he ran around the house with Mothers dress on a kite. But in the end he feels bad after Conrad yells at him and makes him clean up all the mess that he makes and he becomes dominated by superego and gets everything clean by the time Mom comes home.

The Fish.
The Fish is dominated by superego because the whole book he was talking about how the Cat was a bad hat and that everything was a bad idea. The whole book he was a kind of babysitter to the two kids and trying to help them get rid of the Cat before their mother got home.

persepolis......2?

Im to lazy to type out the question so ill just put the number........
8.) The only real freedom she experiences was before the revolution and while she was in europe. While all of her stories of captivity where from back in Iran(i ran so far awayyy...... sorry its a song from SNL...ill stop now.) The things that prevent us from being free is in some cases the government and our parents for some people while for others its their selfesteem. That probably isnt what the question was asking but..........yeah it makes sense to me soo deal with it lady!

ok random time GI joe looks pretty awesome!!! i just saw an ad for it!!!!! can you say intense!?!?!?!

15) She is saying that the relationship betwen past and present is that in someways the things you experience in the present can change how you see things from the past. like you can think one way about what happened in the past then you experience something in the present that could change how you see the past forever. there is a big role of Marjis family in her life because she thinks thatshe needs to be like them and follow in their politicle foot steps.

Persepolis blog 1.......almost done!

The new York Times hails Persepolis as "the latest and one of the most delectable examples of a booming postmodern genre: autobiography by comic book." Why do you think this genre is so popular? Why did Satrapi chose this formay in which to tell her story. What does the visual aspects add that a conventional memoir lacks? Have you read other Graphic novels? How is Persepolis different and or similar to those? how does persepolis compare to comic books? would you call this a comic book? blah blah blah blah........
I think that the genre is popular because it shows what she remembers in her own words and through her eyes using the pictures. I have read Maus and it is super good and i LOVED it! Persepolis is different to Maus because Maus is through Art's dads eyes, while Persepolis is through Marji's eyes and is first hand experiences.I would put persepolis in the memoir section in a book store because while it is a graphic novel it is still and mainly a memoir.

Describe the writers voice. Is it appealing? which aspects do you identify with or like the most? blah blah blah.......
her voice is what SHE wants people to know and not what anyone is telling her that she should write about. She speaks from her memeries and what she was thinking at the time and she adds personal and random things into the history of her people and i like that about the book. My reaction to the little girl affected my experience because it made her story more relatable because we where closer in age then when she was an adult.

Inspit of everything kids where trying to look hip blah blah blah...........
Kids would look hip buy adding patches and buttons to their clothes and wearing ripped jeans and looking "punk" like when Marji went to the party and her mom ripped her sweater. I think i would have done small things to make it my own like adding patches and color to things. Evey teen rebels in their own way and Marji was just being normal by listening to music that was frowned upon and being political.

Visual essay

My topic is Consumerism. Consumerism is the attachment to materialistic values or possessions: deplored the rampant consumerism of contemporary society..... thats what it said online which doesnt really help since i know about half of what the qute thing says.... but to me it means when people consume greater amounts of things then what they actual need and what they need.I chose this picture because it shows how alot of people feel and how people see the things they have and the things that they buy as who they are insted of what kind of person that they are.

The picture says that people will buy things even thought they dont have the money to buy the things which will always come back and bite you in the ass because it will most likely put you in debt wich sucks ass.

I chose these pictures because they discribe (in pictures) what consumerism means. Also how people define themselves by what they have and buy.

Why go? the feed blog #2

In the chapter called Boring, why does Titus think that the boat picture is boring? what does it say about Titus? He thinks that the painting is boring because he said that, "There was nothing that was about to happen or had just happened." He finds the painting pointless because nothing is happening, just like there was nothing going on in his head with out his FEED. This says that Titus is so used to always having things happen so he doesn't really understand "peace" he doesn't really know what to do when nothing is going on.

The FEED is described as knowing what you need before you do, is this what the FEED really does? I think that the FEED isn't telling you what you need or want it is just telling you what you should get. It is just telling you what IT wants you to buy.

The author dedicates the book "to those who resist the feed." What does he mean by this? What is the FEED in real-life context? How can it be resisted? What are the benefits and drawbacks of doing so? in what ways do you resist the feed?
I think that the author is dedicating the book to people who don't "conform" to society. And people who are not obsessed with pop culture and material objects. The FEED can be resisted by being original and not changing who you are to fit in with the cultural norm. The benefits of resisting are that you become and are your own person but a drawback is that you can be outcasted by society depending on how much you resist.

551 dessa darling

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWJzbCWT0_4So I was going to start this like….Friday, but I am easily distracted. Then I was going to do it after lunch today (Sunday) but me and my sister went to go see Obsessed! That movie is the bomb.com! Plus I love me some Beyonce! Then when I got home I was looking at tattoo ideas. Then that made me think of the rapper Dessa and that made me listen to her song 551. I love that song so much! It’s the bomb.com! Well I should probably start this now so here it goes…

What do you notice about the language Anderson uses? What is the purpose of doing so? How is it effective? Anderson uses a lot of slang words from the time that the book is set in. He made up a lot of sayings and words like, meg, unit, null, youch, and slop-bucket. That pulls you in to the book more because it is in the view of a teenager and if it was written like an adult, and used 2006 slang it would kinda pull you out. Like if you have ever seen the Romeo + Juliet, the one with Leonardo Dicaprio, you know what I’m saying because it is placed in the future but they still used Shakespearean language. That made me mad and took me out of the movie completely! And even though Anderson uses future slang you can still understand what the characters are talking about. And if you don’t…..you it is fun trying to guess what the words mean.

What are the science fiction elements on this novel, why is it categorized as science fiction? The science fiction element to the novel is that it is set in the future and the whole aspect of the “feed” is very sci-fi. Because it’s about how humans have been implanted with this weird chip . The book reminds me of Kurt Vonnegut’s Utopia-15, because they are both set in the future and they both are about what it’s like when humans relay too much on technology and we no longer are able to do simple things, you know like thinking.

The book is dedicated, “To all those who resist the feed.” What exactly is the feed? What does it mean to resist the feed? Is there anything similar today, and in what ways do you (or people you know) resist the feed? What are the advantages or disadvantages of having a feed? The feed is a form of technology that is placed in a person’s head that pretty much thinks for you. The only thing that is like a feed now is the media. I think that because there are a lot of people who base their lives on what the media and famous people say. Like in one episode of Law and Order: SVU when that girl killed people because this singer guy that she was in love with told her to. There are a lot of people who get themselves into a lot of trouble with not thinking for themselves. People look to the media to figure out what to wear, what to think, what to talk about, and what to believe in. People who think and act how they want to and not how people say they should are resisting the feed.
